According to various sources and research, 98% of people die without fulfilling their goals and dreams, meaning only 2% of people become successful in life.

Why is that, is it their education level, family ties, skin colour, or ethnic background, maybe it’s the environmental conditions that are set by the government or the corporate ladder system?

First, I think let us define success, the dictionary defines success as “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose”. I think this is straightforward we don’t need a motivational speaker to tell us more, but I did like what one guy said, that success is “doing what you want when you want without fear or violating anyone’s rights” I really like that.

So, this means that 98% of people never accomplish their purpose, aim, or their life’s desired outcome that they have set for themselves, and why is that?

There is plenty of advice out there to help you to accomplish your purpose, in this article I have summarised what I found to be some of the most helpful advice.

Define your purpose, the first and most important task is to know where you are heading, and here are 15 questions to help you discover your personal mission from thinksimplenow.com

Have an action plan, know what you need to do to accomplish your purpose, set daily goals that relate to your weekly and monthly goals, this will help you to achieve your yearly goals.

Have self-discipline, the ability to control your emotions, behaviour, habits, and attitude towards life. You need to learn and improve yourself daily and it is through self-discipline that you will sustain the consistent determination required to achieve success.

“Persistence is self-discipline in action” ~ Brian Tracy

Listen to your intuitions, through this journey of success you will need a friend to help and guide you through tough times when the world is against you, and there is no better friend and trusted companion than your inner self, instinct, soul or heart.

“Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice” ~Steve Jobs

Understand failure and its purpose, which is to teach. There is no such thing as failure, it’s only temporary defeat. Real failure is when you give up on your purpose.

“We learn from failure and not success”

So, it’s clear that success is never a coincidence, but rather a deliberate effort. If you want to be successful in your career and in life, then don’t leave it to chance and luck. It’s going to be hard, but hard is not impossible.
